How we Teach
Basketball is a spiritual game where prosperity on the court comes from one's understanding in the laws of the game. Laws are the fundamental principles, wisdom, or knowledge of how the game works, taught by the game itself. In basketball, laws exist to distinguish players from students, the chaff from the wheat, revealing and shaping the inner man on the court.

Why The Inner Man is Important: 3 Spirits on the Court

Hoopers
Lean on their own desires. They are lukewarm in the game, straddling the fence 'tween player and student. The game itself is harsh to them. As those who are lukewarm the game spits out, having no need for them in the end.

Players
Learn the laws for a time but resort to the flesh during a game. They will struggle due to this, unless they acknowledge their ways of disobedience and convert to a student.

Students
This kind remain in the spirit during games. They will inherit mastery because they seek it, humbly, submitting 100% to the Will of the Game.

A Game of Laws
At Be Like David, we believe we’ve uncovered what we call the Gospel of the Game — the sacred order that governs everything that happens on the court.
Basketball, like life, is not random. It is ruled by laws, rooted in physics, positioning, timing, and wisdom. When those laws are followed, there is prosperity. There is progress. There is mastery. When ignored, there is chaos, frustration, and defeat.

On the court, we’ve learned that athletes express three different spirits:

-
Players — They know the laws, but choose not to follow them.
-
Hoopers — They rely on their own understanding, unaware of the laws that govern the game.
-
Students — The few who know the laws and obey them.
“By their fruits ye shall know them.” — Matthew 7:16
On the court, the truth is always revealed. Every possession is a test. Every play is a moment of judgment. Will you apply your knowledge — or fall to ignorance, impulse, or pride?

Just as Scripture says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” So it is in basketball. Most players don’t fail from lack of effort — they fail from lack of understanding.

We exist to teach the laws of the game.

Not trends. Not tricks. Not false confidence. But truth — the unchanging principles that allow any player to grow, compete, and play with clarity and purpose.

To us, basketball is more than a sport.
It’s a path to wisdom.
It’s a mirror of the Gospel.
It’s Life.

Shalom — and welcome to Be Like David.
